Electrify prove we’re FFIT for the job!

Earlier this week we worked with the SPFL Trust & University of Glasgow to put on a supercharged significant stakeholder event.

Around 60 guests joined us at Hampden for a FFIT Future event at which long-term research findings into the effectiveness of Football Fans in Training was revealed.

Football Fans in Training is a healthy lifestyle project which encourages supporters to sign up at their SPFL club to a 12-week programme of learning and physical activity. Most participants are able to become healthier and fitter, lose some weight, and are often happier as a result.

The research, presented by Dr Cindy Gray, demonstrated the long-term impact of FFIT. When participants lose weight in FFIT, they generally keep much of the weight off. The knock-on effects for health and other public and social services are therefore significant.

Our role was to create an event at which the research presentation would be the centre. We decided to hire high profile broadcaster David Tanner to lead proceedings.

Around that we built a series of films featuring some of the participants in FFIT, introduced a couple of interactive games for our guests, and heard from some of those who have benefitted both recently, and since they participated some years ago.

We were also joined by the Minister for Public Health, Sport and Wellbeing, Joe FitzPatrick who gave an opening address.

As well as creating the look and feel for the event, we tied in the day to our overall approach to FFIT in 2018-19. This has included several new elements such as:

  • New FFIT "landing page" microsite
  • A 90-second "how FFIT works" animation
  • Club specific supporting creative around our #BeFFIT theme
  • A series of films with personal stories from our FFIT participants


The research reveal was also covered in the media, with coverage in The Scotsman, The Times and BBC Scotland News.
