We're pleased to reveal that we're strengthening our team here at Electrify with three key appointments and other changes across our business.
Firstly, Lauren Bennett has joined our board of directors, and becomes Creative Director. She will continue to actively lead the business alongside Managing Director Lawrence Broadie. Lauren has complete responsibility for the creative direction of every aspect of our work, and our wider business.
In May, Anna Carr joined us from SAMH, taking up a new role as Campaigns Partner. She will be leading on a series of key third sector projects.
Anna has terrific experience, having also worked at Independent Living Scotland in communications and events, and previously for social care charity, The Action Group. She also serves on the board of Edinburgh Young Carers as a trustee.
Our newest recruit is Emily George, who arrives from a highly respected creative agency in Edinburgh. A fantastic designer, with experience in motion and film editing, she joins us as a Creative Partner.
Originally from Norfolk, Emily - who studied graphic design at Kingston University in London - was a winner of the RSA Student Design Awards 2017-18. This earned her a three-month internship with Dundee-based NCR which brought her to Scotland for the first time.Emily also had a competition entry exhibited by the London Design Biennale in 2020.
Emily is initially providing cover for Robyn Laing, who is now on maternity leave, but her role is permanent. This is part of our commitment to strengthen the creative side of our business over the next few months, when Robyn returns.
The changes continue with Graeme Alexander joining Lauren's team in a new role as Content Producer. His new role will include film, editing, and social media management.
Our managing director Lawrence is delighted with the changes. "Recruitment is really difficult, especially during a pandemic, and even more so when you consider how demanding we are in terms of skills, but fit within our team," he said.
"What pleases me most is that we haven't compromised. We have an exceptional team of human beings, and they're extremely talented, too!
"The structure we have now is very clear. We have a board of three executive directors each with a clear remit, and we have a staff team of five colleagues, again each of whom has a specific role.
"I've learnt over the last few years that I cannot do it all, and so building structure and opportunity has been important. I tell everyone who joins our team that they can be anything at Electrify. Anything.
"Lauren probably epitomises this more than anyone I've ever worked with in my career. She's a brilliant creative, leads by the example of her work, and is a brilliant counterbalance to me (if you know us, you'll know what I mean by that). Her contributions to the future of our business are strategic, and borne out of great thought. Lucy and I could not be more delighted that she's taken another step up.
"I'd also like to welcome Anna and Emily. The fact we are recruiting colleagues from highly respected organisations is a sign that we're continuing to move in the right direction. We want Electrify to be an amazing, safe, encouraging place to work (and be challenged, too!). I've no doubt that both colleagues will make a significant contribution."
